Alessandra Volpi
Italian Pianist Alessandra Volpi began her piano studies at the age of four under the direction of Maestro Gaeta in Carrara, Italy. She had her orchestral debut at age ten performing the W.A.Mozart K.488 Concerto with the Orchestra Vivaldi di Boario, Italy. She studied for several years at the Livorno Conservatory, Italy taking lessons from Busoni Competition winner Maestro Daniel Rivera and also Maestro Balzani of the Milan Conservatory. At the young age of sixteen she was awarded a scholarship to further her music education with Maestro Gary Amano of Utah State University.
Alessandra has won several awards including First Prize at the Pietro Napoli National Piano Competition; First Prize at the Mascia Masin International Piano Competition; First Prize at the National Competition for Young Pianists in Lucca,Italy; Second Prize at the J.S. Bach International Piano Competition; First Prize at the Citta’ di Camaiore National Piano Competition, First Prize at the F.I.D.A.P.A. National Piano Competition. Alessandra has also received First Prize at the Utah State National Piano Competition; First Prize at the MTNA National Piano Competition; First Prize at the Grand Junction Symphony National Piano Competition; Second Prize at the Jefferson Young Artist National Competition.
While at Utah State University Ms. Volpi played several concerts with various orchestras including two performances with the Utah State University Orchestra and the Grand Junction Symphony Orchestra and performed extensively in the western part of the United States. In April 2003 she was presented with the Robins Award as Talent of the Year by Utah State University and taught as a Faculty Member there for three years.
Her career has given her the opportunity to work and study with many legendary mentors such as Leon Fleisher, Stewart Gordon, Jerome Lowenthal, Olga Kern, Marina Lomazov, Norman Krieger, AndreÂMichel Schub, Charles Rosen, Nelita True as well as perform in many chamber music ensembles. Ms. Volpi is currently working as vocal coach and collaborative pianist at Belmont University and for the Belmont University Opera. She has also been the rehearsal pianist for the Nashville Ballet since 2014.
